Teichichnus

These beautiful Teichichnus occurrences are seen in split core expression.  In this orientation, Teichichunus is recognized by the u-shaped meniscate back-fill left in the sediments.  Both upward and downward movement of the trace maker is recognized trace these fossil occurrences. Teichichnus is an indicator for marine water influence in the environment of depostion.  It is common to find mono-specific, or low diversity high abundance, occurrences of this trace fossil in more physically and chemically stressful environments of deposition.

Teichichnus occurrences are also illustrated above and are shown in core expression.
