Theropod Track Way

These five three-toed theropod tracks are found in the Cretaceous Woodbine Group in the Dallas & Fort Worth area in North Central Texas.  The trackway records the movement of a rather large meat-eating dinosaur, and today the preserved movement trends southeast (130º).  At this location, lateral facies variability and associations indicate locally a transition from distributary channel deposits contained within an interpreted river-influenced delta lobe into a foreshore and upper-shoreface marginal marine depositional environments.  I am in the photos for scale.  When the trackway was first observed there were about forty-five individual tracks; however, during the last three to four years most have been destroyed by continuous erosion of the friable sandstone.
